Dick Griffin steps down Dick Griffin submitted his resignation from the Board at our Board meeting on
August 10. Dick cited health reasons as the cause of his resignation,
but he also expects to stay active in LCRT and we welcome his participation. Bert Hutt, who received the next highest number of votes in the election, will replace Dick on the Board and serve the remainder of Dick Griffin's term. Dick Griffin appeared last month in Lysistrata and numerous Lake County productions, including On Golden Pond as Norman Thayer and his memorable performance as Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof last season and many more. Bert Hutt settled in Sonoma County in the 1990's where he taught music and was well known as the circus character "Mango Bellini" at First Night Santa Rosa. Burt's debut in Lake County was with the Lakeport Players' production of The Butler Did It earlier this year. He also appeared in this summer's Lysistrata by LCRT. The Board would like to give a hearty thanks to Dick Griffin and extend a warm welcome to Bert Hutt.

Daniel Holland to Direct “AFTER TWO” Auditions SET Auditions for the LCRT fall production, "After Two" by Joseph Reed Hayes will be held Thursday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 31, Lower Lake Community Park, 16375 Second Street, 6-7:30 p.m.
The play has eight characters, three women and five men, who interact in a suburban all-night diner after 2 a.m. No experience is necessary to audition, however, all participants must become members of LCRT.
The plays of Joseph Reed Hayes connect with audiences on many levels, and this one comments on the absurdity of modern life, yet the need for love within that absurdity. Ray loves Carly. Carly loves Darryl, but can't remember why. Sandi loves Bill. Bill loves the waitress. James loves his son. Sam hates everyone. 3 tables, 8 people, 25 minutes ... over and over and over ...
“After Two” and was one of the finalists in the 2004 Lake County Repertory Theater's Scriptwriters Festival and will be directed by Daniel Holland to run November 12-14 and 19-14 on the Weaver Auditorium Stage in the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum.
You can learn more about the playwright at his Web site The Plays of Joseph Reed Hayes.
LCRT hosts Script Writers Workshop November 13, 2004
Joseph Reed Hayes, the playwright of the LCRT November production, “After Two” will present a workshop for playwrights in conjunction with the opening of his original comedy. Daniel Holland will direct “After Two” which was a finalist in the LCRT Playing by the Lake writer’s contest.
The Life of Karen Jennings is celebrated
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of long-time LCRT member Karen Jennings.
A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, August 21 at 6:30 PM at the Pine Grove Pool on Bottle Rock Road on Cobb Mountain.
Karen was an accomplished actress in many productions of LCRT over a 20-year span: Calamity Jane, Goodnight Ladies, Farndale Avenue.... and many more. Additionally she performed in the Annual Renaissance Pageants of Middletown. She and her husband John lived on Cobb Mountain over 30 years with their four children. Karen was well known for her wonderful Christmas Wreaths, homemade soaps, love of gardening, and horses. Karen was also elected to the Middletown School Board and was active in many environmental issues that affected her community.
She passed peacefully surrounded by her family after a valiant five battle with cancer on August 13, 2004.
Our heartfelt love and support go to the whole family as Karen was a beacon of strength, determination, perseverance, and passion.
Lake has been adopted for cleanup by LCRT. If you are interested/ supportive of this program, members will meet the first Saturday of the month at 8 am at the entrance of Ployez Winery. Contact Ginger Ingersoll with questions and to help.

LCRT Changes Webmasters
Special thanks to Rich Altman who served as LCRT's first Webmaster for a year and a half. He brought LCRT into the electronic age by securing our domain name lcrt.org and updating contact information, current play listings, and the LCRT Newsletter. Rich resigned his duties as of August 15 and President Rod Bauer has assumed the job.
Over the next few months new features will be added to the LCRT website. Be sure that your browser points to "http://www.lcrt.org" and not an older address. The bottom right corner of the Home Page will have a recent date that will assure you you're visiting the most recent site. Each time you view the Home Page, you'll see a new quotation about acting and the theatre. Come back often!
It is the writer's job to make the play interesting.
It is the actor's job to make the performance truthful.
